Pre-Seminar Writing Workshop: Travel Writing: People, Places, and Things
This workshop is open to participants of the 2025 Ernest Hemingway Seminar. Participants in this workshop will discuss three short pieces of travel writing, including an excerpt from A Moveable Feast. We will examine the works as craft, discuss, then do several writing exercises. Participants should bring along a photo from previous travels for this exercise.

EDWARD “MAC” TEST is Professor at Boise State University in Theatre, Film and Creative Writing. He is a scholar, creative writer, and translator of Spanish. He is author of three books of translated poetry, a book of poetry, and two scholarly books: Sacred Seeds and The Lieutenant Nun. He is recipient of several grants and fellowships: the Idaho Humanities Council Research Grant, National Endowment of the Humanities Summer seminar, Boise State University Research grants, and fellowships at the Folger Shakespeare Library, Huntington Library, and the John Carter Brown Library. Mac is currently working on a book about his thirteen years as a Bering Sea Fisherman.
