Annie McCauley, Executive Director, joined the staff of Mountain Humane in late 2018 and was appointed Executive Director of Mountain Humane in January 2020. Improving lives, building authentic relationships, and making a difference have been the main themes of Annie’s 43-year non-profit career.  As the executive leader of four different organizations spanning two decades, Annie has found the work to nurture the connection between people and pets at Mountain Humane especially meaningful. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for The Chamber of Commerce of Hailey and the Wood River Valley. She and her husband Brian are the happy owners of two Mountain Humane terrier rescue dogs – Betty and Eddy.

Kelly Mitchell, Senior Director - Shelter Operations and Outreach joined the staff of Mountain Humane in 2016. She has had the privilege of working in several leadership roles since joining the organization, including Programs Director, Marketing Director, and now Senior Director of Shelter Operations and Outreach.  She recently completed the University of Wisconsin-Madison Shelter Medicine Northern Tier Shelter Fellowship certification. The Fellowship focused on shelter medicine, animal care, managed intakes, open adoptions, and other industry changes, trends, and best practices.

Rachel Thompson is Program Manager, Operations and Strategy of Pets for Life (PFL) at The Humane Society of the United States. Rachel works with organizations throughout the county to implement community-based owner support programing, and with a goal of making the future of companion animal welfare a more just and inclusive movement. Rachel currently serves on the board of Paws Between Homes, an Atlanta-based nonprofit serving the pets of people facing housing insecurity. Originally from northern New Jersey, Atlanta became home after completing a Bachelors of Anthropology from the University of Georgia.

Marta Pierpoint is Executive Director of the Humane Society of Western Montana. Marta  moved to Montana over twenty years ago, leaving her San Francisco law practice to join Triaxsys Research LLC as a partner.  After serving as Vice President to Triaxsys for three years, Ms. Pierpoint switched gears to fuel a passion for education, serving on the Missoula International School Board for successive terms until joining the school as the Director of Advancement.  During that time Ms. Pierpoint also served as a board member and board chair for the Humane Society of Western Montana (HSWM) where she now works as Executive Director.  HSWM serves over 1500 animals a year with 26 employees and an annual budget of over 1.5 million. Pierpoint holds a Fellowship Degree in Shelter Leadership from the University of Wisconsin Shelter Medicine program.
