Winter Read Book Group: Reading Water

Winter Read Book Group: Reading Water

This year’s annual Winter Read centers around the novella A River Runs Through It by Norman Maclean – a story that invites us to think about the human relationship to the natural environment through the story of two brothers coming-of-age along the Blackfoot River in Montana. For this book group, we will read and discuss three nonfiction books that invite contemplation about the natural world and how we move through it: Walden by Henry David Thoreau; Pilgrim at Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard; and A River Runs Through It

We will meet via Zoom each Wednesday at 4 p.m. Reading schedule:

January 26      General introduction and chapters 1-5 of Walden.

February 2       The remainder of Walden

February 9       Chapters 1-7 of Pilgrim at Tinker Creek.

February 16      The remainder of Pilgrim at Tinker Creek.

February 23      A River Runs Through It
