History Half Hour at High Noon - August's feature: The Lewis Ore Wagons

Join Heather LaMonica Deckard, Coordinator of Wagon Days for the City of Ketchum, and Kristine Bretall, Community Engagement Manager for The Community Library's Wood River Museum of History + Culture, for a walk-around tour of the Lewis Ore Wagons outside on the street in front of the Ore Wagon Museum on 5th Street. They'll talk about the use of the wagons, their history, and how Ketchum became the owner of these historic wagons.

Meet at the Ore Wagon Museum at the corner of 5th and East Streets at 12pm.

On Thursday, September 3, there will be a special Ore Wagons history presentation with the restorer of the Lewis Ore Wagons, Doug Hansen. That presentation will happen in front of the Wood River Museum at 5:30 pm.

Join lifelong local and Wagon Days parade and exhibit coordinator, Heather LaMonica Deckard at the Ore Wagon Museum for a deep-dive into our iconic ore wagons and the history surrounding them.

Each year, ahead of the Wagon Days celebration, the City of Ketchum proudly displays the historic Lewis Big Hitch Wagons outside the museum and also has a pop-up exhibit inside the Ore Wagon building that includes historic artifacts from the Wood River Valley's mining days. But beyond the wheels and wood lies a rich history that many don’t know. The History Half Hour is presented by the Wood River Museum of History + Culture and the City of Ketchum. Artifacts inside the pop-up exhibit come from the Bellevue Museum, the Blaine County Historical Museum, and the Wood River Museum of History + Culture.
