TV Discussion Group In-Person
The TV Discussion Group is a place where TV obsessives and skeptics gather to dissect one season of a prestige drama, much the way a book club analyzes a novel.
The group will welcome 2025 by focusing on Apple TV+'s “Presumed Innocent,” a twisty whodunit that’s also a courtroom drama and a nuanced portrait of a family in crisis, set against a background of local politics. David E. Kelley, creator/writer of renowned legal dramas "LA Law", "Boston Legal", and "Big Little Lies," among others, has reimagined Scott Turow’s 1987 best-selling legal thriller as an eight-episode TV series starring Jake GyllenaalI and an outstanding supporting cast. Kelley has changed many details of the novel and the 1990 film adaptation’s plot, so if you think you know who the murderer is, you don’t.
Ketchum resident Mimi Avins, who covered pop culture in her years as a staff writer for The Los Angeles Times, will lead the discussion at the library on Thursdays from 4:00-5:30 p.m., January 16 - February 6 (four weeks), in the Learning Commons. The group will watch two episodes to discuss at each meeting. Advance registration is requested.
