Workshop: Finding the Rhythm of the Wild

Workshop: Finding the Rhythm of the Wild In-Person

Finding the Rhythm of the Wild: Crafting Lyrical Essays, led by CMarie Fuhrman. This workshop is part of the 2025 To Taste Life Twice seminar.

This generative and immersive workshop offers a deep look into the craft of lyrical essay writing. CMarie will guide you through the key elements of this evocative form, where close observation of the natural world intertwines with personal reflection and heightened language.

Through interactive exercises and the study of inspiring examples, you'll explore techniques for:

  • Heightening your senses: Learn to capture the essence of nature through vivid sensory detail.
  • Crafting with imagery: Discover how metaphor, simile, and symbolism can deepen your connection to the natural world.
  • Finding your voice: Develop a unique and authentic voice to share your personal experiences in nature.
  • Experimenting with structure: Explore different structural approaches to enhance the flow and impact of your essays.

Practice transforming your experiences in nature into compelling narratives that resonate with both beauty and insight. This workshop is designed for writers of all levels and genres who seek to deepen their connection with the natural world and refine their craft.
