Bedrock: Immigration’s Role in the Wood River Valley

Bedrock: Immigration’s Role in the Wood River Valley In-Person

Part 3 in the Spur Community Foundation's It's In Our Nature Event Series

Since the early days of sheepherding and mining, immigrants have been vital to the development of the Wood River Valley. Today, immigrants make up more than 25% of our population and over 40% of the students in our schools. Despite their crucial contributions and presence, their stories often go untold, and their experiences remain vastly misunderstood.

Panelists include:

  • Becky Lopez, The Alliance
  • Luis Campos, The Alliance
  • Brad Henson, Principal at Alturas Elementary School
  • Alonso "Vinny" Salinas, current Wood River High School student

The panel will be moderated by Sally Gillespie, executive director of the Spur Community Foundation.

Registration is required. Program will be livestreamed and available to view later. Click here to watch online.

The Spur Community Foundation believes that impactful philanthropy plays a vital role in ensuring that the Wood River Valley remains a compassionate, thriving, and vibrant community. Their vision is for all members of the community to recognize that a culture of generosity can enhance the quality of life in our valley, inspring them to give back with their talents, time, or resources. By promoting this sense of engagement, Spur aims to preserve the values and character of the Wood River Valley for future generations to come.
