The Garage: Rehearsed Reading "Wilma" + Chat @ The Spot

The Garage: Rehearsed Reading "Wilma" + Chat @ The Spot In-Person

The Community Library is partnering with The Spot, a non-profit theater company in Ketchum, on their free public reading of Abby Rosebrock's WILMA. The reading will be directed by Natalie Battistone and will star Rachel Aanestad, Gertie Pitts and Julia Ott. WILMA was commissioned by the Manhattan Theatre Club/Bobby Olsen:

South Carolina, 1999. A mother tamps down her gargantuan rage at the President to make sure her 12-year-old daughter wins a speech contest. Over the course of a morning, trapped by a flood in their intimate world of two, Wilma and Tally contend with mass media, each other, and the most brutal stages of life, as radioactive secrets are pushed into the light. Wilma is an intergenerational story of two women, three decades apart, as desperate to master the cult of American striving as they are to find some permanent relief from it.

Brooklyn-based playwright Abby Rosebrock (Dido of Idaho, Blue Ridge) returns to Sun Valley as the The Garage: Artist's Incubator @ The Spot Artist-in-Residence for 2024. During her time in residency at The Spot, Abby will be rounding out her newest work The Good Girl Trilogy–a series of linked plays about downward mobility, girlhood, and coming of age in the nineties.

Join us for a reading of the first in the trilogy, WILMA, followed by a conversation between playwright Abby Rosebrock and Martha Williams, The Community Library’s director of programs and education.

Location: The Spot is located at  220 Lewis Street #2, in Ketchum.

Concessions will be available in The Spot's newly renovated lobby space, The Slot, before and after the presentation.
