Dark Sky Binocular Observation with Dr. Lindsay DeMarchi

Dark Sky Binocular Observation with Dr. Lindsay DeMarchi In-Person

Join Dr. Lindsay DeMarchi for an evening of binocular stargazing above the rooftops of Ketchum. Attendees should plan to bring their own binoculars, and Dr. DeMarchi will guide us through viewing the night sky with this accessible tool.

Pre-registration required. Limited to 15 attendees.

Attending this program does require walking up three flights of stairs to access the rooftop patio above the Library's new Wood River Museum of History and Culture, across the street from the Library at the corner of 4th Street and Walnut Avenue. A specific meeting point will be given to registered attendees.

Dr. DeMarchi is a 2023 Astronomer in Residence with the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve STEM Network. This is a NASA funded program from Boise State University, which works closely with The Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve to bring science to classrooms, libraries, and more.

Dr. Lindsay DeMarchi is an interdisciplinary space environmentalist and stellar mortician, proudly engaging the public on all matters dark and wondrous. She is the Astronomer in Residence at the Central Idaho Dark Sky Reserve and author of numerous scientific articles to bring awareness to outer-space sustainability and light pollution. She is most passionate about empowering the cultural and personal connections each individual has to the night sky and their role in environmental stewardship.
