2023 Ernest Hemingway Seminar: FATHERS & SONS In-Person In-Person

This year's seminar theme is FATHERS & SONS. For two and a half days, we will explore Hemingway's writings and relationships through presentations, films, readings, and discussion groups.

Our conversations will focus on six short stories: “Indian Camp,” “The Doctor and the Doctor’s Wife,” “My Old Man,” “Ten Indians,” “Fathers and Sons,” and “An African Story.”

Speakers will include National Book Award Winner Sherman Alexie, Assistant Research Professor in English at the Pennsylvania State University and Associate Editor of The Letters of Ernest Hemingway Dr. Verna Kale, Associate Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin–Baraboo Marc Seals, and Boise State University presenters Drs. Stacey Guill and Clyde Moneyhun.

The seminar opens Thursday, September 7, at 5:00 p.m. with a reception and our opening keynote at 6:00 p.m., then runs all day Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a closing reception on Saturday from 4:30-6:00 p.m.
