Winter Read Book Group

Winter Read Book Group In-Person

As part of the 2023 Winter Read, the Library's executive director Jenny Emery Davidson will lead a four-week discussion series on Kali Fajardo-Anstine's short story collection, Sabrina & Corina. The group will meet each Wednesday in February from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Library's Lecture Hall and discuss 2-3 stories each week.

The stories invite us to think about the West in unexpected ways – through urban environments as well as rural ones, through vibrant female characters, and through multiple cultural lenses. We’ll talk about the range of themes that the stories evoke, and we’ll also consider the short story as a literary form.

Week 1 - February 1: "Sugar Babies" and "Sabrina & Corina"
Week 2 - February 8: "Sisters," "Remedies," and "Julian Plaza"
Week 3 - February 15: "Galapago," "Cheesman Park," and "Tomi"
Week 4 - February 22: "Any Further West," "All Her Names," and "Ghost Sickness"

Registration is recommended to join us, but walk-ins are welcome.
